JAKARTA – The Chairwoman of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas), who is also the wife of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Wury Estu Handayani, stated that Dekranas has been the pillar of craft development in Indonesia since its establishment in 1980.

“Dekranas has been the main pillar for the development of crafts in our country since it was founded on March 3, 1980,” said Wury Ma’ruf Amin, as quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, March 3.

Wury stated that Dekranas continues to grow and has become an inspiration for many individuals.

According to her, every achievement and moment of success of Dekranas, including every challenge that has been overcome, has built a strong foundation for the organization.

She reminded that there are still long roads and challenges ahead.

“With the spirit of togetherness and unwavering commitment, I believe we can face them well. Together, we can uphold the vision and mission of Dekranas, especially as we approach the end of our tenure in 2025,” she explained.

Wury also appreciated the efforts of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary Committee in organizing a social service activity in the form of an affordable grocery bazaar for the surrounding community.

“Personally, I am very happy because today's thanksgiving holds deep meaning for the community, especially in the current economic situation. With affordable groceries available while prices are rising, possibly due to a poor harvest in Indonesia, this event is truly helpful,” said Wury.

Wury also expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade for their contributions to Dekranas' social service activities.

“The affordable grocery bazaar is a highly beneficial initiative in easing the economic burden of the community, particularly in purchasing essential needs at affordable prices,” she said.

She emphasized that the implementation of the bazaar was made possible through the collaboration of the committee, relevant ministries, donors, and neighborhood and community leaders (RT/RW) around the Dekranas Headquarters.

She hopes that the social service activities will strengthen the bonds between administrators and the local community and bring significant benefits to all parties involved.
