Solo, Gatra.com – The peak event of the 44th anniversary of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) at Hotel Alila, Solo, featured a special outfit with a 'besanan' theme. This attire, designed by Wignyo Rahadi, symbolizes the union of two families bound by marriage.

The 'besanan'-themed outfit combines Sumatran cultural ornaments, known for their songket fabric, with Javanese culture, closely associated with batik fabric. This attire was showcased before First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Dekranas Chairperson Wury Estu Handayani, and members of the Organization of Solidarity Action Era (Oase) of the Indonesia Maju Cabinet.

Interestingly, aside from being worn by models, this outfit was also donned by several government officials' wives, including the Chairperson of the Pulau Taliabu Regency PKK Team from North Maluku Province, Zahra Yolanda Aliong Mus, and the wife of the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Sri Suparni.

After the fashion show, Zahra expressed her pride, as she was able to present the collection before First Lady Iriana and Oase members.

“Thank you for trusting me to wear this outfit and present it in front of Ibu Iriana and the invited guests,” she said.

She also hoped that through this event, Indonesian MSMEs could continue to grow and develop, with their products becoming more recognized. Additionally, she wished for Indonesian crafts and traditional textiles to gain international recognition.

At the event, Pulau Taliabu Regency showcased several of its signature products, including Bacan stones, batik, woven hats, and ‘tongkat setan’ (devil’s cane).

“These are the unique features of Pulau Taliabu that we exhibited at this event,” she added.
