Solopos.com, SOLO–The city of Solo won 3rd place in the decorative car, craft, and cultural parade in celebration of the 44th anniversary of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) and the 52nd anniversary of the Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (PKK) in Solo on Wednesday (15/5/2024) afternoon.
The achievement was joyfully welcomed by the Chairperson of the Solo Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (TP PKK) and Chairperson of the Solo Regional National Crafts Council, Selvi Ananda.
“Happy that the host gets a bonus of third place out of 102 decorative cars. The judging was based on craftsmanship and culture,” Selvi told reporters on Wednesday (15/5/2024).
According to her, Solo, as the host, had warmly welcomed guests. The city was honored to be entrusted as the host. Residents enthusiastically gathered along the parade route, the weather was clear, and the parade ran smoothly.
The Head of the New Entrepreneurship Division of Dekranas, Endang Budi Karya, stated that the decorative car, craft, and cultural parade successfully set a MURI (Indonesian World Record Museum) record for having the most participants.
The parade featured 20 decorated horse-drawn carriages (biolet), 102 decorative cars, crafts, and cultural displays, as well as more than 1,200 walking participants, mostly PKK women from across Indonesia wearing their respective traditional attire.
The Chairperson of the Central TP-PKK, Tri Tito Karnavian, explained that Selvi had encouraged Dekranas and the Central PKK to hold the event in Solo last year. Solo has supporting facilities such as hotels and transportation.
“This serves as a promotional event for Solo. Other national events can also be held here,” she said.
