SUARAKARYA.ID: The series of events celebrating the 44th Anniversary of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) and the 52nd Anniversary of the PKK Unity Movement (HKG) in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday (15/5/2024) was lively. A parade of decorated cars, handicrafts, and cultural displays enlivened the event.

Solo City, as the host, won third place in the decorated car parade. The Head of New Entrepreneurship at Dekranas, Endang Budi Karya, expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic support of Solo residents for the event.

“The enthusiasm was incredible, the people of Solo were very happy and supportive. The audience was also orderly, ensuring the event ran smoothly,” said Endang Budi Karya Sumadi, after the handicraft and cultural parade at Ngarsopuro.

The event's success was further highlighted by an award from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the largest number of participants.

“There was a previous event, but it only had 66 participants with just decorated cars. Today, with the inclusion of handicrafts and culture, there are 102 decorated cars being judged,” she explained.

The Daily Chairperson of Dekranas, Tri Suswati Tito Karnavian, added that Solo City was chosen as the host of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary and the 52nd HKG PKK Anniversary based on a proposal by the Chairperson of Dekranasda Solo City, Selvi Ananda.

“With cooperation between the Central Java Provincial Government and Solo City, considering the capacity of hotels and transportation. This is extraordinary and serves as a promotion for Solo City, proving its worth as a venue for national and international events,” said the wife of Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Dekranasda Solo City, Selvi Ananda, expressed her pride in Solo City securing third place.

“I am very happy that Solo City won third place, especially as the host,” she said.

Selvi also conveyed a message from First Lady Iriana Jokowi regarding the event, which she praised as excellent, lively, and festive.

“As hosts, we must warmly welcome guests from all over Indonesia. The impact is significant, covering tourism, culinary attractions, and more,” said Selvi.

In the Craft and Culture Parade competition, the Dekranasda of South Sumatra Province won the Overall Championship, while the Dekranasda of South Kalimantan Province was named the Favorite Winner. The first-place winner was Papua Highlands Province, followed by East Barito Regency in second place and Solo City in third.

In addition to the decorated car parade and cultural procession, the Dekranas Anniversary series also featured a Dekranas Expo with 257 handicraft booths, a Nusantara culinary booth, and consulting services for artisans at Lapangan Pamedan Mangkunegaran.
