RADARSOLO.COMSolo City has become the center of attention as it hosts a series of events commemorating the 44th Anniversary of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) and the 52nd Anniversary of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Movement, held from Tuesday (May 14) to Saturday (May 18). Many participants have fallen in love with the hospitality of the locals, the comfortable environment, the culinary delights, and the various infrastructures currently available.

One of the PKK representatives from Depok City, West Java Province, Christine Desima, felt that Solo City has a unique atmosphere compared to other cities.

“Honestly, I arrived by plane on Tuesday (May 14) morning around 10:00 AM WIB. I was surprised at how peaceful the city was, so I asked the driver (an online driver I hired, Red), and he said this is a city without honking. In Depok, even at intersections, people constantly honk, but in Solo, traffic awareness is much better,” she explained on Wednesday (April 15, 2024).

Besides traffic discipline, Christine, who also serves as the Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Development in Depok City, noted that the friendliness of Solo residents also creates a comfortable impression for visitors. This is why Solo was rightly chosen as the host for national events such as Dekranas and HKG PKK.

“The city is so friendly, comfortable, and safe. I see that all the PKK cadres here are happily enjoying Solo’s atmosphere and its various new venues. For instance, at Balekambang Park, the location is pleasant, the park is beautiful, and the air is cool because of the many shady trees. Hopefully, more national events can be held in Solo again,” she expressed.

Aside from being welcoming and comfortable, participants of the Dekranas and HKG PKK anniversaries were also highly curious about Solo’s cultural tourism. For those from other parts of Indonesia, visiting Solo gave them the opportunity to experience the authentic traditions and culture of the Javanese people.

Therefore, they were eager to visit the Kasunanan Surakarta Palace and Pura Mangkunegaran in between their national event activities.

“We arrived on Monday (May 13), so we haven’t had the chance to explore the city yet since we had to prepare for the competitions. After this, we’re getting ready to visit some of Solo’s top tourist attractions. We all want to take pictures in front of the palace as a keepsake,” said Hanipah Musyafirin, Chairperson of the PKK Team and Dekranasda of West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.

Another thing that intrigued Dekranas and HKG PKK participants was Solo’s authentic culinary delights. The city’s culinary tourism is a unique attraction for food lovers eager to savor the local specialties of the places they visit.

This curiosity also heightened the excitement of PKK cadres from South Bangka Regency when they heard about the legendary culinary treasures in Solo.
