RM.id Rakyat Merdeka – The National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) held a social service event by distributing 500 affordable grocery packages to the community.

This initiative was carried out as a form of social concern amidst rising food and basic commodity prices while also commemorating the 44th Anniversary of Dekranas.

Dekranas Chairperson Wury Ma’ruf Amin stated that Dekranas has been a pillar in the development of handicrafts in Indonesia since its establishment in 1980.

Dekranas has grown into an inspiration in driving creativity, innovation, and progress for artisans.

“The 44-year journey of Dekranas should not be just a ceremonial celebration. I am very pleased that this thanksgiving event carries a deep meaning by organizing an affordable grocery bazaar at a time when people are facing economic challenges due to rising essential goods prices,” said Wury during the 44th Dekranas Anniversary Social Service event at Rumah Kriya Asri, Jakarta, as quoted on Monday (4/3/2024).

According to Wury, with a spirit of togetherness and commitment, Dekranas can overcome obstacles and strive for its vision and mission as it nears the end of its 2019-2024 term.

The Chairperson of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary Committee, Loemongga Agus Gumiwang, stated that this social service initiative allows residents around Rumah Kriya Asri (Dekranas Headquarters) to purchase affordable groceries, with each package priced at just Rp50,000, benefiting 500 underprivileged families.

“As an expression of gratitude for Dekranas' 44th anniversary, we have provided affordable grocery packages consisting of biscuits, milk, fried onions, instant noodles, crackers, rice, cooking oil, and sugar,” said Loemongga.

Loemongga confirmed that, besides the social service event, the peak celebration of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary will be held in Surakarta, Central Java, on May 14-15, 2024.

The thanksgiving event will be accompanied by a micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) exhibition featuring 278 MSME booths at Alun-Alun Pura Mangkunegaran.

“The highlight will be a cultural parade and decorated cars representing the characteristics of each province,” she added.

Also accompanying Wury Ma’ruf Amin at the social service event were the Executive Chairperson of Dekranas, Tri Tito Karnavian; Chairperson of New Entrepreneurship, Endang Budi Karya; Chairperson of Promotion and Public Relations, Dina Arie Setiadi; Chairperson of Business Management, Sri Suparni Bahlil; and Business Management Member, Liza Mustafa Abubakar.
