SOLO, suaramerdeka-solo.com – The 44th anniversary celebration of the National Craft Council (Dekranas) held in Solo received a warm welcome from the public.
One of the events that received enthusiastic responses was the parade of decorated cars and culture on the Slamet Riyadi main street, Wednesday (5/5) afternoon.
For this event, Dekranas, together with the Solo City Government (Pemkot) as the local committee, received an award from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI).
The certificate of appreciation was handed over by the Chairman of MURI, Jaya Suprana, to the Dekranas Patron, Iriana Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
The parade event, which also featured a decorated car and cultural competition, was part of the 44th Dekranas anniversary celebrations in Solo, which took place from Wednesday to Saturday (15-18/5).
A total of 102 decorated cars showcasing the uniqueness of various regions across the archipelago were displayed. These decorations were the result of the creativity of members from 38 Provincial Dekranas Daerah (Dekranasda).
The parade was also enlivened by 1,250 pedestrians dressed in traditional costumes from their respective regions.
This element made MURI record the 'Decorated Car and Culture Parade' event as the one with the most decorated cars involved.
The Chairman of MURI, Jaya Suprana, before handing over the certificate of appreciation, stated that the car parade organized by Dekranas actually broke a world record.
He explained that such an event, with so many cars accompanied by beautiful dances, had never occurred before in the world.
"In my opinion, this is a world record. Because such an event has never happened before in the world, with so many cars and these beautiful dances. I hope the First Lady will kindly accept this certificate,” he explained.
Iriana Jokowi, wearing a kebaya and a Dayak headband, appeared to thoroughly enjoy the event.
On the main stage, which was designed to resemble a train carriage complete with a steam locomotive, Iriana was accompanied by the Chairperson of Dekranas, Wury Ma'aruf Amin, and the Chairperson of Dekranasda Solo, Selvi Ananda Gibran Rakabuming.
The Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Solo City, Aryo Widyandoko, explained that the Solo City Government had received the green light from the Chairperson of the New Entrepreneurship Division of Dekranas, Endang Budi Karya, to join in celebrating the MURI Record award.
He emphasized that the parade of decorated cars and culture had successfully been organized thanks to the collaboration between Dekranas and the Solo City Government.
Aryo hopes that the successful 44th Dekranas anniversary celebration in Solo will encourage more people to visit the City of Bengawan.
