REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kriyanusa Nusantara Craft exhibition is once again being held at Hall A, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), from September 21 to 25, 2022. Carrying the theme "The Spirit of Survival, Competitive Artisans,” this exhibition serves as a sign of revival for Indonesia’s craft industry.
The Chairwoman of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas), Wury Ma’ruf Amin, stated that the Kriyanusa 2022 exhibition is clear proof that local craft products can still thrive and remain relevant. She is optimistic that this exhibition will serve as a strategic platform for promoting craft products from various regions across Indonesia.
"The theme of the event is highly relevant to the current situation. As we all know, we have faced two challenging years during the pandemic. This has been a test for all of us, especially for craft artisans. This moment must be utilized as a promotional opportunity,” Wury said in her opening speech on Wednesday (21/9/2022).
Wury explained that the pandemic has changed many aspects of life, including the craft industry. Therefore, she urged craft artisans to continue innovating, being creative, and enhancing their product competitiveness.
"The key to competitiveness is creativity. The products must also be of high quality, efficiently produced, environmentally friendly, and rooted in each region’s cultural or traditional heritage. This way, artisans can create unique works that align with market preferences while remaining affordable,” Wury stated.
She then encouraged the public to visit the Kriyanusa exhibition 2022 and support the movement to be proud of Indonesian products. "I also urge support for the Proud of Indonesian Products movement. This initiative is a strategy to anticipate global market competition,” Wury said.
Dekranas Executive Chairwoman, Tri Tito Karnavian, mentioned that this exhibition is a tangible effort to develop the craft business while preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage. A total of 147 exhibitors from various regions in Indonesia are participating in the event. Additionally, there are 13 booths from ministries, 15 booths from associations and foundations, 13 sponsor booths, and 13 independent participant booths.
