Solo – First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo (Jokowi) participated in the 44th Dekranas Anniversary parade in Solo. Iriana was accompanied by her daughter-in-law, Selvi Ananda, riding a car decorated with a Rajamala head.

As observed by detikJateng, Wednesday (May 15, 2024) at 14:00 WIB, Iriana, Selvi, and members of Oase KIM were seen dressed in matching maroon outfits. They were paraded in a car adorned with a Rajamala head ornament.

Rajamala itself is a character from Javanese wayang (shadow puppetry) and has become the mascot of Solo City. During the parade, Iriana carried balloons in various shapes, which she then handed out to the public.

The parade and cultural procession are part of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary celebrations in Solo. The parade involved dozens of decorated cars and was watched by thousands of people who filled the streets along Jalan Slamet Riyadi.

The Chairman of the Dekranas Expo 2024 Committee, Loemongga Agus Gumiwang, said the 44th Dekranas Anniversary celebrations began in May with training, mentoring workshops, and a cheap staple food bazaar.

"The peak of the celebration starts today, beginning at the ballroom of Hotel Alila Solo, attended by around 1,500 invited guests. It is followed by a parade of decorated cars and the 2024 Dekranas cultural procession. The route goes from Sriwedari Stadium to Puro Mangkunegaran,” he said during his speech at Hotel Alila Solo, Wednesday (May 15, 2024).

He explained that from today until the next four days, there will be an Expo at Puro Mangkunegaran with 257 booths showcasing Indonesia's pride in crafts, culinary booths from across the archipelago, and consultation services for artisans.

Previously, Iriana first opened the 44th Dekranas Anniversary Expo at Hotel Alila Solo. On this occasion, Iriana greeted the predominantly female guests from all provinces in Indonesia, who wore traditional attire from their respective regions.

"How are you? Healthy? Alhamdulillah. I’m amazed because all of the mothers here are wearing fabrics from their respective regions,” said Iriana during her speech, Wednesday (May 15).

Iriana then officially opened the event by striking a gong and cutting a cone, which was handed to the Dekranas Central Management.

"On this special day, I would like to wish a happy 44th anniversary to Dekranas in 2024. And with the words bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby officially open the Dekranas Expo 2024,” she concluded.
