Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — The National Crafts Council (Dekranas) is once again organizing the 2023 Kriyanusa Exhibition under the theme "Superior Crafts, Advancing Indonesia.” This traditional craft exhibition is being held from September 13 to September 17, 2023, at the Jakarta Convention Center.

Wury Estu Handayani, the wife of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, stated that this event aims to promote and encourage superior crafts as one of Indonesia’s most valuable assets in facing global market challenges.

"The 2023 Kriyanusa Exhibition will serve as a stage for skilled artisans from all over the country to showcase their beautiful and creative works. Not only will it display unique handmade crafts, but it will also highlight the spirit of innovation and boundless creativity in producing superior craft products,” she explained during the opening ceremony of Kriyanusa 2023 on Wednesday (13/9/2023).

Wury mentioned that 307 booths are present at the event to enliven Kriyanusa 2023. "Alhamdulillah, the First Lady also attended to inaugurate the event, and today it is officially open to the public, who can shop, enjoy, or admire the works of Indonesian artisans,” she added.

Regarding transaction targets, the Executive Chairman of Dekranas, Tri Suswati—wife of the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian—clarified that there are none, as this exhibition is not intended for business transactions but to introduce Indonesian products.

"This exhibition also aims to showcase the contribution of local Dekranasda (Regional National Crafts Council) to the economy in their respective regions. It highlights how local governments support artisans by providing space for them to improve their craft and boost their regional economies,” she explained.

In an effort to promote cultural heritage and encourage economic innovation, Dekranas highlights superior crafts as one of the key pillars in Indonesia’s progress.

Superior crafts refer to Indonesia’s traditional handicrafts and arts, which play an increasingly important role in shaping national identity and significantly supporting the country’s creative economy.

"Superior crafts are not only about honoring tradition and culture but also about creating jobs, promoting sustainability, and generating significant economic benefits for Indonesia,” Wury added.

One aspect that captures global attention is the extraordinary creativity embedded in each Indonesian superior craft product. Local artisans are highly skilled in blending tradition and innovation to create products that appeal to international markets.

This also presents investment opportunities that can support artisans and craft industry players in growing and competing on a global scale.

"Moreover, Kriyanusa is a highly anticipated craft exhibition, not only in Indonesia but also internationally, as it showcases regional superior craft products created by skilled and competitive MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises),” she said.
