The National Crafts Council (DEKRANAS) is once again hosting the Kriyanusa 2023 Exhibition under the theme ‘Superior Crafts, Advancing Indonesia,’ taking place from September 13-17, 2023, at the Jakarta Convention Center.

The Chairperson of the Kriyanusa 2023 Exhibition Committee, Sri Suparni Bahlil, stated that the event reflects DEKRANAS’ commitment to developing the capacity of craft entrepreneurs. The goal is to encourage the creation and development of local craft products while preserving the cultural identity of various regions in Indonesia.

"This exhibition serves as a marketing platform for DEKRANASDA-assisted products and provides space for Indonesia’s craft industry to continue fostering creativity and innovation, enhancing business performance, and showcasing its best products,” she explained.

Local artisans skillfully blend tradition and innovation to create products that captivate global markets. Through their creative touch, craft products such as batik, wastra (traditional textiles), woven goods, pottery, and carvings have gained worldwide attention. This marks the beginning of a long journey toward a more advanced Indonesia.

"Superior crafts are not just about honoring tradition and culture but also about creating jobs, promoting sustainability, and generating significant economic benefits for Indonesia,” said Wury Ma’ruf Amin in his opening speech at Kriyanusa 2023.

The Kriyanusa 2023 Exhibition is further enlivened by the Dekranas Award program, which recognizes creative entrepreneurs and artisans producing the best Indonesian crafts.

"A total of 377 types of products have been submitted for the Dekranas Award, evaluated and curated by a panel of independent and professional judges,” explained Liza Mustafa Abubakar, Chairperson of the Dekranas Award Committee.

The Kriyanusa 2023 event, initiated by DEKRANAS, features participants from various regions, including artisans supported by DEKRANAS/DEKRANASDA from across Indonesia, as well as artisans fostered by ministries, government agencies, and state-owned enterprises (BUMN). The exhibition also includes culinary stalls, filling a total of 307 booths.
