IDXChannel – The wife of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Wury Estu Handayani, claims that the existence of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) serves as the main pillar for the development of the handicraft industry in Indonesia.
Wury conveyed this in her capacity as the Chairperson of Dekranas at the 44th Dekranas Anniversary Social Service event in Jakarta on Sunday (3/3/2024).

“Currently, Dekranas has become the main pillar for the development of handicrafts in our country since its establishment on March 3, 1980,” said Wury in her speech.
According to Wury, Dekranas has now grown and evolved into an inspiration for many individuals across Indonesia.

However, Wury reminded that every achievement and moment of success must serve as a strong foundation for Dekranas in addressing future challenges.
“The road ahead is still long and full of challenges. With a spirit of togetherness and unwavering commitment, I believe we can face them well. Together, we can strive for the vision and mission of Dekranas, especially as we approach the end of our service term in 2025,” said Wury.

Wury also appreciated the efforts of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary Committee in organizing a social service event, including an affordable basic goods bazaar for the surrounding community.
“I personally feel very happy because today's celebration has a profound meaning for the community, especially in these difficult economic times. The availability of affordable staple foods is very helpful, particularly when prices are rising due to poor harvests in Indonesia,” said Wury.
Wury also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) and the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) for their contributions to Dekranas' social service activities.
“The affordable basic goods bazaar is a highly beneficial initiative to ease the economic burden on the community, especially in purchasing essential goods at affordable prices,” explained Wury.
She emphasized that the success of the bazaar was due to the collaboration between the organizing committee, relevant ministries, donors, and local neighborhood and community leaders (RT/RW) around the Dekranas Central Office.
Wury hopes that the social service activities will strengthen relationships between the organization and the local community while providing significant benefits for all parties involved.
On this occasion, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, Wury also extended her wishes for a blessed fasting period for Muslims.
“May we all be granted ease and success in observing Ramadan,” Wury concluded. (TSA)
