Solo, Gatra.com – The 44th anniversary celebration of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) was held in a grand manner at Alila Hotel, Solo. The event was attended by First Lady Iriana Jokowi, along with Vice President's wife Wury Estu Handayani, who also serves as the Chairperson of Dekranas.

The event was also attended by members of the Solidarity Action Organization (Oase) of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, along with Dekranas and Dekranasda officials from across Indonesia.

Iriana arrived at around 9:30 AM WIB, wearing a salmon-colored kebaya, matching with the Oase members. Also present was the wife of Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Selvi Ananda, who wore a green kebaya.

Iriana opened the event by cutting a ceremonial rice cone (tumpeng) and handing it to Dekranas Chairperson Wury Estu Handayani. Prior to that, she gave a brief greeting to Oase members and Dekranasda representatives.

She praised the women attending the event for wearing kebaya or traditional fabrics from their respective regions. "I almost didn’t recognize you, ladies! How is everyone doing?” said Iriana.

She emphasized the special nature of the event. "This is a special day, and I would like to wish Dekranas a happy 44th anniversary,” she said.

The event was then officially opened with a gong strike and the ceremonial cutting of the tumpeng. In her speech, Wury Ma’ruf Amin noted that 44 years is not a short time and considered this milestone a significant achievement in the development of Indonesia’s handicraft industry.

"Today, we are facing various dynamics that require us to continuously innovate, collaborate, and adapt. The ongoing global economic turbulence is a test for us,” said Wury.

She viewed this situation as an opportunity to respond with creativity and perseverance, while also maintaining product quality and expanding market reach both nationally and internationally.

"We hope to develop our nation’s heritage well. Let us continue growing together, inspiring one another, and elevating our cultural heritage to greater heights,” she concluded.
