Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM) through PPSDM Geominerba once again held training to develop human resource competencies in the geology, mineral, and coal sectors.
This training aims to prepare local workers and foster an entrepreneurial spirit, so that in the future, community members will be ready to work and become independent entrepreneurs.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of community training has become increasingly important, as MSME actors were among the hardest-hit sectors.
“Through synergy with the National Crafts Council (Dekranas), PPSDM Geominerba organized community training on utilizing bamboo resources around the Unesco Global Geopark Ciletuh location (Dekranas Goes to Geopark),” explained PPSDM Geominerba Head, Bambang Utoro.
The training, held from November 9-13, 2021, in Sukabumi, was attended by 66 participants, consisting of members of the Sukabumi Bamboo World Association (DBS) and non-members from 47 sub-districts in Sukabumi Regency and 7 sub-districts in Sukabumi City.
Dekranas Goes to Geopark is expected to help MSME players recover and restructure their craft production.

Divided into 3 Groups
PPSDM Geominerba organized training on utilizing bamboo resources around the Unesco Global Geopark Ciletuh location (Dekranas Goes to Geopark).
The activities were divided into three groups: the Haur Class, which created bamboo handicrafts such as bags with fabric/leather materials, flower pots, and jars.
The second group, the Tamiang Class, focused on weaving, including woven bags, coin pouches, and candle holders.
The third group, the Gombong Class, crafted hotel supplies, bathroom accessories, and night lamps. In addition to making handicrafts, participants received materials on building a business through creativity.
Moreover, participants were introduced to geopark insights and the history of Sukabumi’s bamboo industry (past, present, and future).
To enhance the appeal of bamboo craft products, participants were also trained in photography techniques, allowing them to produce product photos that attract buyers.
Product photography is crucial for both offline and online sales, even with minimal equipment.
The implementation of MSME Development Training in the UGGp Ciletuh area is expected to increase product variety, incorporating not only bamboo but also other materials such as fabric and rattan.
This way, the resulting products will be more diverse, of higher quality, have increased production capacity, and reach broader markets, both domestically and internationally.
