JAKARTA, investor.id – The National Crafts Council (Dekranas) supports the advancement of artisans across the country through various initiatives, including training and facilitating access to capital.

The Chairperson of Dekranas, who is also the wife of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Wury Estu Handayani, stated that Dekranas has been a pillar of Indonesia’s craft development since its establishment in 1980.

"Dekranas has been the main pillar in developing the craft industry in our country since its founding on March 3, 1980,” said Wury Ma’ruf Amin in her speech at the 44th Anniversary Social Service event at Rumah Kriya Asri Dekranas, Jakarta, on Sunday (03/03/2024).

Wury stated that Dekranas continues to grow and serves as an inspiration for many individuals. According to her, every achievement and milestone, including challenges that have been successfully overcome, has built a strong foundation for the organization.

As part of the 44th Anniversary celebrations and in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan, Dekranas organized an Affordable Staple Goods Bazaar.

"Through the Affordable Staple Goods Bazaar, we hope to make a positive contribution in fulfilling our duties and roles at Dekranas. This initiative helps alleviate economic burdens by enabling the public to obtain essential goods at affordable prices,” said Wury Ma’ruf Amin.

The Chairperson of the 44th Anniversary Celebration Committee of Dekranas, Loemongga Agus Gumiwang, added that the bazaar aims to provide local communities around Rumah Kriya Asri Dekranas with access to affordable basic necessities.

"This is our way of showing appreciation to the community for supporting our efforts in advancing the national craft industry,” she said.

Loemongga Agus Gumiwang further stated that the theme of the 44th Dekranas Anniversary, ‘Growing Together, Advancing the Nation’s Heritage,’ aims to foster a spirit of unity among Indonesian artisans.

"Through various initiatives such as training, mentoring, exhibitions, and access to capital, Dekranas strives to create a creative entrepreneurial ecosystem for Indonesian artisans,” she explained.

The Chairperson of the 44th Anniversary Social Service event, Liza Mustafa, stated that the event is part of the Dekranas anniversary celebration, which will culminate on May 15, 2024, in Solo, Central Java.

"This initiative is a concrete step in supporting Indonesian artisans while fostering a spirit of solidarity and sharing during the holy month of Ramadan,” said Liza Mustafa.

This affordable staple goods program targets approximately 500 residents who have received distribution coupons from their local neighborhood heads. Essential goods are available in packages worth Rp 250,000, which can be purchased for just Rp 50,000.
