Solo, Gatra.com – The 44th anniversary of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) and the 52nd commemoration of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (PKK) were celebrated with a parade on Slamet Riyadi Street, Solo, on Wednesday (15/5) afternoon.

This carnival set a record and received an award from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI), presented by MURI founder Jaya Suprana.

The award was handed over to First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo before the parade began, which represented all regions in Indonesia. Iriana then passed the MURI award to the Chairperson of Dekranas, Wury Estu Handayani, the wife of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

"This MURI award is a record. But not just an Indonesian record, it is also a world record,” said Jaya Suprana in his speech.

The parade involved around 1,200 PKK participants, hundreds of dancers, and 102 decorated floats. Because of this, MURI recognized the parade as the longest and deemed it worthy of a world record.

"Because nothing like this has ever happened in the world, with so many decorated vehicles and such beautiful dances. Since this is a world record, I kindly ask the First Lady to present this certificate,” he said.

On this occasion, the city of Solo won third place for the decorated float, crafts, and cultural parade. This was happily welcomed by the Chairperson of the Solo City PKK Mobilization Team and Chairperson of Dekranasda Solo City, Selvi Ananda.

"Of course, we are delighted to be the host and also receive a bonus of third place from 102 decorated floats,” she said.

As the host, the Solo City Government made efforts to warmly welcome the invited guests. This event was an honor as Solo was entrusted with the responsibility.

"The residents were also very enthusiastic about participating in and watching the parade. The weather was clear, and the event proceeded smoothly. We are truly pleased,” she said.

Parade Chairman Endang Budi Karya stated that the decorated float, crafts, and cultural parade set a MURI record for the highest number of participants.

"The parade included 20 decorated horse-drawn carriages, 102 decorated floats, crafts, and cultural elements. We also involved more than 1,200 walking participants, who were PKK members from across Indonesia wearing their respective traditional attire,” he said.

The Central TP-PKK Chairperson, Tri Suswati Tito Karnavian, explained that Selvi encouraged Dekranas and the Central PKK to hold the event in Solo last year. She noted that Solo has supporting facilities such as hotels and transportation, making it an ideal host city.

"This is an opportunity to promote Solo City. Other national events can also be held here,” she said.
