The 44th Anniversary of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) and the 52nd Commemoration of the Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (HKG PKK) will be held grandly in Solo, Central Java, on May 15-18, 2024. First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and the wife of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Wury Ma’ruf Amin, will attend both events.
The Executive Chairman of Dekranas, Tri Suswati Tito Karnavian, stated that Solo had been chosen as the location for the 44th Anniversary of Dekranas since last May. The host of the event is the Dekranasda of Central Java Province.
"It will invite all administrators, the First Lady, the Chairperson of Dekranas, namely Mrs. Wury Ma’ruf Amin, along with the administrators of the Cabinet Indonesia Maju Solidarity Action Organization (OASE KIM), the central administrators of Dekranas, as well as the chairpersons of Dekranas and PKK from all over Indonesia,” said Tri at the Lobby of Sriwedari Stadium, Laweyan, Solo, Central Java, on Sunday (12/5/2024).
Tri added that the 44th Anniversary of Dekranas and the 52nd HKG PKK Commemoration are held together for efficiency in time and location.
"The Dekranas Anniversary is celebrated every March 3, and the HKG PKK every March 4. Since I am both the Executive Chairman of Dekranas and the General Chairperson of PKK, for overall efficiency, we decided to hold both events at the same place in Solo and at the same time,” explained Tri.
Additionally, Tri mentioned that these anniversary celebrations would be significantly different from last year’s event in Medan, North Sumatra. This year’s celebration will be enlivened with various activities that will gather more people. Apart from the parade, there will also be exhibitions and art performances.
"The event will take place from May 15-18, 2024, but on the night of May 14, 2024, there will be a dinner at Pracima Tuin Mangkunegaran, attended by First Lady Iriana Jokowi and Vice President’s wife Wury Ma’ruf Amin,” she said.
Regarding the selection of Solo as the venue, Tri stated that Solo is easily accessible from various regions in Indonesia. Moreover, in terms of infrastructure and supporting facilities, Solo is considered highly suitable and ready to host a major event.
"Previously, events like this were mostly determined by us at the central level and were often held in Jakarta. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which severely affected local artisans, we decided to hold the event in Medan. After Medan, the Central Java Provincial Government requested to be the next host, specifically in Solo, so we are organizing it there,” she explained.
On that occasion, Tri also apologized to the people of Solo, as the city will be crowded with visitors from all over Indonesia during the event. She also hopes that the people of Solo will be entertained and participate in celebrating the 44th Anniversary of Dekranas and the 52nd HKG PKK Commemoration.
