JAKARTA – The Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) of Central Java is once again participating in the national craft exhibition "Kriyanusa” 2023. Under the theme "Superior Crafts, Advanced Indonesia,” Central Java is sending nine SME artisans to the event, which will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) from September 13-17, 2023.

The Head of Promotion and Cooperation at Dekranasda Central Java, Ratna Kawuri, stated that the exhibition is organized by Dekranas to promote economic growth and expand market access for craft artisans.

"The craft products that Central Java will showcase have been strictly curated by renowned designer Musa Widyatmodjo. Out of 23 artisans we selected, we proposed 10 artisans, but one had to be dropped due to theme incompatibility. As a result, we are sending nine artisans along with their products,” said Ratna when contacted via phone on Tuesday (9/12/2023).

The nine artisans participating in Kriyanusa 2023 include CV Kandhimas Surya Buana from Surakarta City Fashion, offering bags, shoes, outerwear, and accessories; Diamond Kreasi Mandiri from Banyumas, specializing in natural fiber crafts; and ZEE Collection Banyumas Premium, which produces botanical print and fashion crafts.

Additionally, Batik Riya from Surakarta City, Shidobiru Sakatani Makmur from Temanggung with indigo shibori pasta and fashion and craft; Tatik Handicraft from Boyolali, specializing in copper, brass, and aluminum crafts; Natureline from Boyolali, bringing decorative and aroma therapy candles; JF BAGS from Semarang City Craft with handmade bags; and Eka Batik from Semarang City.

Ratna, who also serves as the Head of the Central Java Industry and Trade Office, added that aside from being a promotional platform, Kriyanusa 2023 will also feature a special fashion show from the Chairpersons of the Provincial Dekranasda.

"We hope that this event will also open up new market opportunities for artisans in Central Java,” concluded Ratna. (Pd/Ul, Central Java Communications and Information Office)
