jateng.jpnn.com, SOLO – The National Crafts Council (Dekranas) and the Surakarta City Government (Pemkot) received an award from the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) during the Decorative and Cultural Car Parade on Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Solo, on Wednesday (15/5) afternoon. The award certificate was handed directly by MURI Chairman Jaya Suprana and received by Dekranas Patron Iriana Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This event was part of the series of activities celebrating the 44th Anniversary of Dekranas, which took place in Solo from Wednesday to Saturday (15-18/5). These decorations were the creative works of members from 38 Provincial Dekranas Regional Councils (Dekranasda). The parade was also enlivened by 1,250 pedestrians dressed in traditional attire from different regions. With these elements, MURI recorded the Decorative and Cultural Car Parade as an event involving the largest number of decorated cars. He stated that such a parade, featuring an enormous number of cars accompanied by beautiful dances, had never been held before.
“In my opinion, this is a world record. Nothing like this has ever happened before, with so many cars and such beautiful dances. I humbly ask the First Lady to accept this certificate,” he said. On the main stage, designed to resemble a train carriage complete with a steam locomotive, Iriana was accompanied by Dekranas Chairperson Wury Ma’aruf Amin and Solo Dekranasda Chairperson Selvi Ananda Gibran Rakabuming. On the other hand, Head of the Surakarta City Culture and Tourism Office, Aryo Widyandoko, revealed that the city government received approval from Dekranas' New Entrepreneurship Sector Chairperson, Endang Budi Karya, to share in the MURI record recognition. The decorative and cultural car parade was successfully held thanks to the collaboration between Dekranas and the Surakarta City Government. “This was a collaboration with Dekranas, and we were asked to assist in organizing it,” he said. Aryo hopes that hosting the Dekranas anniversary celebration in Solo will attract more visitors to the city.
