TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bambang Soesatyo, stated that they would prepare a "red carpet” for anyone who wishes to join their party, including President Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, and his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"In principle, the Golkar Party is ready to roll out the red carpet for anyone who wants to join, including Mas Gibran and Pak Jokowi,” said Bambang Soesatyo, also known as Bamsoet, when met after the ‘Tribute to Akbar Tandjung’ event at the DPR Senayan Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia (MPR RI) mentioned that if former PDIP politician Maruarar Sirait wanted to join, Golkar would welcome him. "Including other figures, Mas Ara (Maruarar Sirait), we open the doors wide,” said Bamsoet.

Previously, during his speech at the ‘Tribute to Akbar Tandjung’ event, Bamsoet greeted and honored all the guests present, including the Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKN), Anas Urbaningrum, and Maruarar Sirait. He also stated that Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto was open to anyone willing to join the Golkar Party.

"Mas Anas Urbaningrum is also a rising star, we will prepare whatever is necessary for Mas Anas, but Golkar is open for Mas Anas,” said Bamsoet. "Golkar is also open for Mas Qodari (Founder of the Indobarometer survey institute), and Golkar is also open for Mas Ara. We convey, of course, to Mr. Airlangga, that we open the doors wide for these national activist figures to join the Golkar Party.”
