The 45th Anniversary of Dekranas to be Celebrated Festively in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan on July 9–11, 2025. This year’s National Crafts Council (Dekranas) Anniversary celebration carries the theme “Empowered Artisans, Globally Recognized” as a form of support for Indonesian artisans to penetrate the global market.

Tri Tito Karnavian, Daily Chairperson of Dekranas, explained that the theme was chosen to expand the market and network of local crafts. “The potential of national artisans is extraordinary. The challenge is how they can enter the international market. With this theme, we want to help open that door,” she explained during a press conference in Jakarta.

Venue, Theme, and Expectations for the 45th Dekranas Anniversary Celebration

The 45th Dekranas Anniversary event will be held at the Balikpapan Sport and Convention Center or Dome Balikpapan. Thousands of participants and invited guests are expected to attend, making it a great opportunity for local MSMEs to increase their income. In addition, the event will also support the tourism, hospitality, transportation, and East Kalimantan’s culinary sectors.

Tri added that around 2,300 invitations have been distributed to participants from various regions in Indonesia. “Usually during the Dekranas celebration, hotels, rental cars, restaurants, and souvenir shops are all fully booked. This becomes a motivation for other regions because the economic benefits are very significant,” she stated.

Series of Events: Craft Exhibitions, Fashion Shows, and Inspiring Talkshows

Muhaimin, Chairperson of the 45th Dekranas Anniversary Committee 2025, added that the celebration will be enlivened by a craft and fashion exhibition with more than 200 MSME booths, a craft product bazaar, as well as interactive talks with national designers.

The committee has prepared 170 exhibition booths, which have already been filled by 161 participants from 38 provinces. In addition, there are 118 MSMEs from regencies/cities and support from three ministries, expected to bring stronger collaboration and significant economic impact for artisans.

“In addition to exhibitions and bazaars, there will be interactive talkshows with designers and national creative industry players to share inspiration and product development strategies to compete in the global market,” Muhaimin explained.

Dekranas, a Pillar of Strengthening the National Creative Economy

Indri Raka Prabowo, Head of Promotion and Public Relations of Dekranas, emphasized that since its establishment on March 3, 1980, Dekranas has consistently preserved the nation's culture, encouraged innovation in craft products, and improved the competitiveness of local artisans.

“Dekranas exists as proof of the state's support for artisans to be competitive in the global market and bring the name of Indonesia through crafts such as weaving, wickerwork, carvings, and various other crafts,” she said.

She also added that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the government is committed to making the creative economy, including crafts, the backbone of the people's economy. Craft products not only hold economic value but also strengthen Indonesia's cultural image in the eyes of the world.
