BANGKAPOS.COM, JAKARTA- The National Crafts Council (DEKRANAS) is once again holding the Nusantara Craft Exhibition \"Kriyanusa\" 2023, with the theme \"Excellent Crafts, Advanced Indonesia,\" from September 13 to 17, 2023, at the Plenary Jakarta Convention Center.

The event was officially opened by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, marked by the beating of a tambourine, accompanied by the Chairperson of Dekranas and also Indonesia’s First Lady of Crafts, Wury Ma'ruf Amin.

In her speech, Dekranas Chairperson Wury Ma'ruf Amin stated that all artisans should continue to develop themselves and create more crafts, thus improving their individual quality.

"Artisans should continuously enhance their skills and quality by participating in training sessions or exhibitions,” she said.

Meanwhile, Acting Chairperson of the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), Maya Suganda Pasaribu, who attended the event by invitation, stated that this year’s Kriyanusa exhibition can boost the enthusiasm of artisans participating in the event.

"There are many participants from all over Indonesia, and earlier, some Dekranasda members took part in a fashion show, fully supporting Indonesian-made products by wearing artisan-made crafts to help with their marketing,” she said.

This year, the Babel Province showcased four craft stands as part of their participation, including: South Bangka Regency, featuring lamps made from PVC pipes and crochet works.

Central Bangka Regency, displaying eco-print crafts; Belitung Regency, showcasing batik and stone crafts; and the province itself, presenting various crafts from Babel, such as crochet from West Bangka Regency, Katak Village batik from Pangkalpinang, cual weaving, tenun, and resam bags.

Additionally, Acting Chairperson of Dekranasda Babel, Maya Suganda Pasaribu, attended the event wearing a traditional outfit from Babel, namely Batik Cual, featuring a modified pelawan bee motif with a red Malay-style blouse.

She hopes that Babel’s artisans will continue to develop their work, particularly in creating more variations of Batik Cual motifs so they can be worn for both formal and casual occasions.

"Price competition must also be adjusted, ranging from premium prices to more affordable options, so that people from all economic backgrounds can purchase them. Artisans should also exchange information and share experiences on how to market and develop their crafts,” she advised.

The Kriyanusa 2023 exhibition, initiated by DEKRANAS, also featured several events during the opening ceremony, including a fashion show, creative dance performances, choir performances, and the presentation of the Dekranas Award 2023.
