KILASJATENG.ID- The Craft and Culture Decorated Car Parade as part of the 44th anniversary celebration of the National Craft Council (Dekranas) and the 52nd anniversary of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (PKK) held on Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Solo City, Central Java, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, not only attracted public attention but also successfully broke a MURI Record.
The award certificate was presented directly by MURI Chairman Jaya Suprana and received by Dekranas Patron and First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The MURI record broken was for the Parade of Decorated Craft and Culture Cars with the Most Participants.
Indeed, the event was enlivened by 102 decorated cars showcasing the uniqueness of various regions in the archipelago. These decorations were the creative works of members from 38 Provincial Dekranas Regional Councils (Dekranasda). The parade was also joined by 1,250 pedestrians dressed in traditional attire from their respective regions.
MURI Chairman Jaya Suprana, before handing over the award certificate, stated that the decorated car parade organized by Dekranas actually set a world record. According to him, such an event, with so many decorated cars accompanied by beautiful dances, had never happened before worldwide.
“In my opinion, this is a world record. Because such an event, with so many decorated cars and beautiful dances, has never occurred before worldwide. I kindly ask the First Lady to accept this certificate,” said Jaya.
Meanwhile, the decorated car parade itself was lively and attended directly by First Lady Iriana Jokowi. Wearing a kebaya paired with a traditional Dayak headband, Iriana joined the parade by riding a Rajamala-themed decorated car along with members of the OASE Cabinet Indonesia Maju.
Iriana and her entourage then disembarked at the Gatot Subroto (Gatsu) intersection and took a seat at the honorary stage. On the main stage, designed like a train carriage complete with a steam locomotive, Iriana, accompanied by Dekranas Chairwoman Wury Ma’aruf Amin and Solo Dekranasda Chairwoman Selvi Ananda Gibran Rakabuming, enjoyed the parade until the last decorated car passed.
Dekranas New Entrepreneurship Division Head and parade coordinator Endang Budi Karya stated that achieving the MURI record was a significant accomplishment for Dekranas.
“We received the MURI record because today we successfully held a craft and culture parade with the most participants. There has never been anything like this before; the previous record only had 66 cars,” she said after the event.
Endang also observed that the people of Surakarta welcomed the event with great enthusiasm. They gathered in large numbers to watch the parade.
“The enthusiasm of Surakarta and surrounding residents was truly remarkable. They welcomed it joyfully and fully supported it with orderliness, making the event a great success,” Endang concluded.*
